4 Cladding Services, the UK’s largest specialist supplier of vacuum lifting equipment for composite roof, wall and glass panels, has sponsored Lucas Skilbeck, a talented young golfer in North Yorkshire.
Lucas is the current Leeds & District Junior Matchplay Champion and is hoping to turn a professional golfing dream into a reality.
The sponsorship provides financial support of up to £1,000 through to 2027, helping to cover competition fees, equipment upgrades and accommodation costs when travelling to golfing events.
With backing from 4 Cladding Services, 14-year-old Lucas Skilbeck has greater opportunity to compete throughout the 2026 season and move one step closer to achieving his long-term ambition of becoming a professional golfer on tour.
This season so far, Lucas has competed in the Leeds & District Junior Matchplay tournament, defending his title. He has recently won the quarter-final, meaning he is now through to the semi-final tournament, which will be held at Scarcroft Golf Club in September.
Lucas has also placed 2nd in the Yorkshire Boy Championship this season, missing first place by only one shot.
Phil Skilbeck, Lucas’ father, says: “Golf is a very tough sport and is extremely difficult as the standard of juniors nowadays is amazing. Lucas has always wanted to play on TV and in front of crowds. With that dream in mind, we have been searching for sponsorship opportunities. 4 Cladding Services reached out after seeing our post on social media. Golf is an expensive sport and the help we have got from 4 Cladding Services has enabled us to purchase some new clubs which Lucas desperately needed for this season.”
Tom Spence, Managing Director at 4 Cladding Services, said: “We are delighted to sponsor a young Yorkshire talent like Lucas as he continues to develop his skill towards his ambition of becoming a professional golfer. To have achieved so much by the age of 14 is an incredible accomplishment. Lucas has shown great determination, drive and talent to go a long way in golf. We hope our sponsorship can provide some of the support he needs throughout the season, and we look forward to seeing what he can achieve next.”
Lucas’ golfing journey
Having first picked up a club with his dad at just two years old, Lucas has gone on to build an impressive record in junior golf, including winning the regional Wee Wonders Open Golf Championships in 2018, the Leeds & District Match Play Championships in 2025 and the Leeds & District Junior Strokeplay Championship this year.
Lucas first got a taste of the professional golfing scene when he joined the Robert Rock Junior Golf Tour at the age of 6, a competitive UK golf series for young aspiring golfers, and the British Junior Golf Tour, which supports the development of junior golfers through competitions.
At the age of 11, Lucas was selected to be a part of the Yorkshire Union of Golf Clubs Boys Squad, providing coaching, talent pathways and development support for promising junior golfers. Since then, the talented player has established himself as a prominent junior golfer, representing clubs such as Drax Golf Club, The Oaks Golf Club & Spa and Selby Golf Club.
Lucas’ golfing career is off to a strong start, having played twice in the national-level English Boys’ Under 14 Open Amateur Championship (The Reid Trophy), one of England Golf’s leading junior tournaments bringing together some of the most promising young golfers.
After his GCSEs, Lucas plans to attend a golf college for two years in the UK, working towards a scholarship in a golf college in the USA for four years.
