Hardware distributor Safeware has further expanded its Yale offering with the addition of the new Dual Lock, a high-performance window locking solution developed through close collaboration between Safeware and Yale.
The new lock is the result of an extensive development programme spanning around 18 months, during which Safeware worked with Yale to help shape the product around the practical requirements of its fabricator customers. This included comprehensive testing and Safeware’s request to extend the product range to accommodate all sash sizes, helping to create a flexible locking solution for the market.
Safeware’s Commercial Director Rob Hartill said: “Our relationship with Yale has always been collaborative and the Dual Lock is a great example of what that means in practice. We were involved throughout the development process, feeding back what we knew our customers needed and working with the Yale team to ensure the final product offered the flexibility required across different sash sizes.”
Rob added: “It has been around 18 months in development, with a considerable amount of testing along the way, so this wasn’t simply a case of adding another product to our portfolio. It was about working together to develop a complete solution that would deliver genuine benefits for fabricators and installers.”
The Yale Dual Lock is compatible with PVC-U, aluminium and timber window systems and has been intelligently designed for efficient fabrication and installation. It is available in three backset sizes (20mm, 22mm and 26mm), three cam heights (7.7mm, 9.0mm and 10.5mm), 11 standard lengths and nine low-handle-height lengths, with croppable and extendable shootbolt options covering sash sizes from 312mm to 1,572mm. The result is a lock that requires minimal routing preparation and reduces installation time and complexity.
The lock also offers high levels of security, is Secured by Design accredited and is backed by the Yale Lifetime Total Trust Guarantee, which offers homeowners support of up to £5,000 in the unlikely event of a break-in resulting from a Yale component failure.
Its bi-directional twin cam operation engages locking points in opposite directions simultaneously, making it significantly harder to manipulate compared to traditional single-direction systems. The cams are precision-adjustable too, which improves weather sealing and helps maintain a consistent, secure fit over time.
The Dual Lock is fully compatible with Yale SensCheck™, helping fabricators and installers tap into the increasing interest in smart locking solutions. The lock can be monitored in real time via the Yale Smart Living Alarm App, which lets users check the status of their windows and doors via their smartphone and receive alerts if one is left unlocked or tampered with.
Safeware has a long-standing partnership with Yale that has delivered market-led hardware solutions including Yale SensCheck smart window and door technology and the Lockmaster® Panic Exit Device. The Dual Lock is the latest example of Safeware and Yale working together to turn customer insight into practical, market-led product development that responds to the evolving needs of fabricators.
