Joedan is progressing an investment expected to total more than £4 million in its Isle of Wight operation as the family-owned window and door business prepares to establish PVC-U manufacturing, create up to 150 jobs and develop a platform for long-term growth.
The investment covers the acquisition and development of the site, refurbishment of its existing buildings, new machinery, warehousing and a state-of-the-art showroom, alongside an approved 25,000 sq ft manufacturing extension.
Located on a 3.5-acre site in Newport, the development will provide the space Joedan needs to manufacture PVC-U products at scale alongside its established aluminium offer.
Planning permission for the new manufacturing facility has now been secured. Once the wider development is complete, Joedan expects its total investment in the site, buildings and machinery to exceed £4 million.
John Purcaro, founder of Joedan, said:
“Not many businesses of our size are investing at the scale we are in manufacturing, particularly in what remains a challenging market. However, we have always taken a long-term view.
“We are prepared to invest because we believe in the opportunity, the Isle of Wight and the future of UK window and door manufacturing.”
An important part of the development is Joedan’s new partnership with Eurocell. This will enable Joedan to manufacture both aluminium and PVC-U products, initially supporting its established retail operation while creating future opportunities in trade supply, new build and light-commercial markets.
The first phase of production using Eurocell’s Logik chamfered PVC-U system is expected to provide capacity for approximately 800 frames a month. As the new manufacturing extension is completed and further machinery is introduced, Joedan intends to increase capacity to around 3,000 frames a month and potentially beyond.
Over time, Joedan also intends to introduce greater automation across the manufacturing process, helping the business increase capacity, maintain consistent quality and create a more efficient operation as demand grows.
Joseph Purcaro, Managing Director at Joedan, said:
“Manufacturing PVC-U at volume requires both machinery and space, and we now have the room to develop the operation to the scale we want. The recent planning approval will support our longer-term growth plans.
“Working in partnership with Eurocell also gives us access to proven products and technical expertise that will help us turn that ambition into a successful manufacturing operation.”
The development is expected to create up to 150 jobs, including 30 apprenticeship opportunities, as it progresses over the next three years.
Joedan also plans to establish an apprentice academy offering practical training and career pathways across manufacturing, engineering and design. The company will work with local schools, colleges and the wider community to help young people understand the range of careers available within fenestration.
John continued:
“This investment is about much more than buildings and machinery. We want to create skilled, sustainable employment and provide young people on the Island with a route into manufacturing, engineering and design.
“We want to develop meaningful apprenticeships that combine practical experience with genuine career progression. Creating opportunities for the next generation while building the skilled workforce Joedan needs will be one of the most important outcomes of the development.”
David Woolley, Head of Sales at Eurocell, said:
“Joedan’s investment represents a major vote of confidence in UK manufacturing and the Isle of Wight. It is an ambitious project led by a business with a strong heritage, experienced people and a clear understanding of the markets it wants to serve.
“Joedan has a clear drive to grow, invest and create something lasting on the Island. Our role is to match that ambition with Eurocell’s product and technical expertise, supporting the business through each stage of its development.”
The first customer-ready Logik frames are planned for November 2026. The refurbishment of the existing site and development of the new manufacturing extension will follow as Joedan progresses its phased investment programme.
