The Moralt Firesound Plus 54 door core, a 54mm timber core achieving certified acoustic performance of up to 45dB (Rw) for single-leaf doors and 44dB (Rw) for double-leaf doors, has been tested and certified using Norseal’s acoustic and smoke sealing systems.
Independently verified under the BM Trada Q-Mark and IFCC schemes, Firesound Plus 54 combines FD30 and FD60 fire performance with high acoustic insulation, providing door manufacturers with a single solution for sound attenuation and fire resistance. The system can accommodate concealed ironmongery, electronic and RFID locking, and a wide range of glazing options, offering both design versatility and certified compliance.
Testing of the system incorporated Norseal’s NOR710 and NOR720 acoustic perimeter seals alongside the NOR810 threshold drop seal, delivering consistent and repeatable performance. The combination provides a defined route to compliance for manufacturers, architects and specifiers requiring verified fire and acoustic ratings.
Michael Spoors, Managing Director at Norseal, said: “The Firesound Plus 54 sets a new benchmark for performance and versatility. It combines Moralt’s timber engineering with our sealing expertise to deliver a tested, certified system that meets current requirements for safety and acoustic control.”
With demand for high-performance door assemblies increasing across commercial, hospitality and residential sectors, the system offers a tested solution aimed at simplifying compliance.
